Re: How to compute the Energy values ? (ADE7880)

Hi hmani

Thank you for your response.

I did the circuit figure6 of the user guide. The only difference is that I don't have loads and I don't have current sensors. With my circuit I just send signals between 0 and 500mV RMS on my eval board. So the difference between figure6 and my circuit is with my jumpers : JP7B, JP7A, JP7C are connected between 1&2 as I don't want any resistor divider. For the same reason  JP9A, JP9B, JP9C are OPEN.

My typical set-up is

- I send a signal +500mV RMS between VA and VN. I also send this signal between IAP and IAN.

- I send a signal +500mV RMS with 120° difference (with the phase A signal) between VB and VN. I also send this signal between IBP and IBN.

- I send a signal +500mV RMS with 120° difference (with the phase B signal) between VC and VN. I also send this signal between ICP and ICN.

When I read the PF registers I can see the value is always close to 7FFF so it seems OK. When I change the amplitude of all my signals I can see my power changing but not in the way I expected. My max value is when the signals are +250mV RMS while I was expecting my max power value when my signals are at +500mV RMS.

I also tried an other set up. I have a 120° between V and I and between phases. When I read the PF registers the values changes when I change the amplitude of my signals (I expected the PF not to change as my 120° never change, only the amplitude of my signals).

Can you please try to explain me this results ?

Thank you for your help.

Regards,

Pierre
